Q. Can I print with a Hologram on the

on the design and complexity involved. Please
contact one of our account managers in your respective

Q. Can I send the images for the Banner

A. All images must be converted in CMYK
in order to get the best quality print. RGB images
are for screen viewing only and cannot be printed.
Q. Can I choose 2 different templates
as my Banner design?
A. If you would like to use the front
side of one template and the back side of another,
we would ask you to please specify the details
in "Special Request Box" at the end
of the order process. In the event that you would
like to order 2 banner designs for your order,
we can gladly accommodate your request at an
additional charge of $297 per additional Banner.
Q. If I leave my Corn Bannerpen on my
desk or in my briefcase, will it biodegrade
within 5 to 7 months?
A. Not at all, our Corn bannerpens have
the same shelf life principles as normal ABS
plastic. As long as they are not subjected to
extremely high temperatures of 60 C and above,
in which case they might begin to soften, as
any normal plastic would in high temperature
conditions, the corn bannerpens will live forever!
The biodegradation only begins when the pen is
placed in soil or is placed in a landfill.
Q. If I chew on my Corn Bannerpen, will
it taste like corn?
A. No, the corn material has been subjected
to many treatments and processes to ensure it
is rendered in a strong polymer, therefore it
looses all its taste and no longer has any nutritional
value.
Q. Is the banner made of corn materials
as well?
A. No, the banners used in the Bannerpen
products are made with 100% recycled paper, and
have a special uv coating for tear protection.
Q. Do you offer a replacement guarantee
for defective bannerpens?
A. Yes, all factory defective Bannerpens
are fully replaceable. Bannerpen.ca reserves
the right to determine if the bannerpen has a
production defect or has been improperly used
causing the pen to break or banner to tear. Please
note that Bannerpen allows a 72 hr period for
you or your staff to inspect the goods in order
for any factory defects to be reported. Any defects
reported after that period will not be the responsibility
of Bannerpen.ca.
Q. What are Corn Plastics?
A. Corn plastics are plastics made from
PLA (Polyactide). PLA is made from corn. Corn
plastic products look and feel just like regular
plastic, but they are 100% biodegradable and
compostable. Corn, is a renewable resource which
makes corn plastics much more sustainable than
regular plastic. Did you know that regular plastic
is made from petroleum?
Q. What is PLA?
A. PLA stands for Polylactide, and is
a versatile polymer produced by NatureWorks LLC.
PLA is made from lactic acid. Lactid acid is
made from dextrose by fermentation. Dextrose
is made from cornstarch and cornstarch is made
from carbon dioxide and water. PLA can be formed
into several different products like you see
on our exclusive Corn Bannerpen collection.
Q. What is the heat tolerance of PLA?
A. Normal heat tolerance of PLA is 100
degrees (F). Remember to keep these products
out of direct sunlight and in a cool, dry place.
Our Corn Plastic Bannerpens have a heat tolerance
of 140 degrees. Bannerpen's world exclusive Corn
plastic product line, guarantees that all products
shipped out of a temperature controlled warehouse.
Bannerpen.ca does not take responsibility for
any products that slightly melt during shipping
or after a customer receives them. Please read
our PLA heat disclaimer policy.
Q. How long does PLA take to biodegrade
or compost?
A. PLA is fully compostable and biodegradable.
In commercial composting conditions, PLA will
compost in approximately 3 to 5 months. Composting
may take longer in a Home composting bin.
Q. If I throw PLA in the trash, will
it biodegrade in a landfill?
A. Most landfills are not designed to
allow biodegrading of their contents. With that
being said, PLA will react in landfills like
other organic waste such as food. PLA is fully
compostable in a composting facility. In addition,
PLA is made from a renewable resource-CORN-instead
of regular plastic that is made from oil.
Q. Is PLA more or less expensive than
regular plastic?
A. PLA is
now becoming competitively
priced with PET plastic.
For some products, such as
cold cups, PLA is less expensive
than PET. For other products,
PLA is the same or slightly
more. Since PLA is made from
U.S.-grown corn, you can
be confident that your money
is going back in the U.S.
economy rather than to overseas
oil companies.
Q. Does PLA contain Genetically Modified
Organisms (GMO)?
A. The PLA
resin does not contain and
GMO. All genetically modified
organisms are eliminated
during the production process
of the PLA resin. Unfortunately,
PLA is not produced from
GMO-free corn. NatureWorks
LLC, the manufacturer of
the PLA resin is continuing
to explore the possibility
of making PLA from GMO-free
corn.
Q. Because it’s made from corn, does
Bannerpen's Corn pens take away from the food
supply?
A. No, our
production utilizes dextrose
as the base feedstock used
in a fermentation process
(much like beer or wine)
which converts sugar to lactic
acid. We use that lactic
acid to then create a polymer,
which is later converted
to a variety of packaging
and fiber applications. This
dextrose is made from No.
2 yellow dent field corn
in the U.S. When the plant
is at capacity, our source
supplier (NatureWorks LLC)
will use less than one half
of one percent of the available
U.S. corn crop.
PLA HEAT DISCLAIMER
NB. PLA will begin to melt at 55 degrees celcius,
while some will sustain its strength even at
60 degrees celcius. Therefore it is imperative
to maintain the product in a normal environment
and reduce any potential exposure to direct sunlight
for long periods of time and to very high temperature
environments.
Please note that all Corn made Bannerpens will
be shipped to the clients location using a special
freight and packaging process to ensure fast
delivery and temperature control. Bannerpen is
not responsible for any damaged products caused
by unpredictable temperature rises and changes.
The packaging will be made specifically to ensure
temperature control, but cannot sustain long
term exposure to temperatures exceeding 55 degrees
celcius. Please note that any location situated
in a hot zone will be suceptible to potential
heat damage during freight and storage at the
courrier or freight company's facilities, unless
Bannerpen is authorized to use more expensive
shipping procedures which will be billed to the
client separately.
In addition, any customs delays or seizures based
on the clients default in payments or other reasons,
will not be the responsibility of Bannerpen,
and any damage to the merchandise due to the
same reasons will also not be the responsibility
of Bannerpen.
PLA Returned goods:
If, in any event, the client refuses the order
due to non payment, damaged product (Other
than PLA melting), the client is obliged to
adhere to the strict rules in regards to packaging
and shipping the goods back to Bannerpen's
head office in Montreal, Canada. In the event
the merchandise is improperly handled by the
client, due to a lack of proper attention to
the fragility of the merchandise in heat sensitive
areas, Bannerpen reserves the right to fully
invoice the client for all damaged merchandise
returned.
Special Tips:
- Do not leave your Corn Bannerpen in the car
if the potential temperatures in the car will
rise above 55 degrees celcius.
- Do not leave the Corn Bannerpen in direct sunlight
for longer than 1 hour, or you will potentially
damage the shape of the pen.
- Do not place the Corn Bannerpen under very
hot water, as this can be very damaging to the
PLA shape and durability.
- Room temperatures and Cold (Even freezing)
temperatures are ideal for PLA.
- Remember that PLA is a natural non-toxic Earth
friendly polymer, therefore the same way we should
all treat this planet is the same way you should
treat your Corn Bannerpens.
